While other cities talk about their sense of community, the town of Beaufort, Missouri, has lived it. After settling in 1849, the whole town picked up and moved to a new location in 1887. That sense rings true today at the Beaufort Lions Club. Since 1970, the club has epitomized community and caring. The club’s “we serve” motto supports local and international humanitarian efforts. In 2021, the Missouri Department of Natural Resources took ownership of the Rock Island Corridor, a 144-mile stretch of former railroads that runs from Beaufort to Windsor. The plan is to turn the corridor into a recreational trail built in sections, offering unique challenges and features.
